About The Artwork
This is a painting of a King Parrot, a native bird to Australia. I called it Elvis because of its reference to the "King" and it is a depiction of the male of the species (the female has a green head). I love Australian native wildlife, the colours, the patterns, the sounds, and the birds, they are all magnificent and strange at the same time. Elvis is a nod to the colours and patterns and the stark contrast of the environment to the animals. I wanted to recreate the cheeky nature of this species by having its mouth open and eyes playful. If you ever get a chance to see these in real life you will see how fun and quite friendly they can be.
