About The Artwork

"Emmet and Percilla"inspired by the late performers Emmet, the Alligator skin man and Percilla the, Monkey girl, is part of “After the Carnival Is Gone”, a series of paintings of the pictures and imagery of the sideshow in which every painting illustrates a late or currently active Sideshow perfomer. All of them are portraited in their peace moments, placing the spectator in the place of a voyeur that peeks into their worlds behind the curtain, after the show is over or After the Carnival is gone

Almudena Caminero is a painter from Spain based in Brooklyn NY. Having a background in Filmmaking and Set Design she uses her paintings as a vehicle to tell stories. Images where the good and the bad take place at the same time, where the everyday norm and the bizarre meet to put together different scenes of Magic Realism that could be found woven into a nightmare. Her work comes always in batches, like every painting was a chapter of a book of pictures having all common contrasts between the right and wrong.
