Luminous, vibrant paintings that move your mind and spirit to beauty and create warm, welcoming spaces for living and entertaining. That is the way many collectors describe the work of Alix Porras. A native of Colombia, South America, currently residing in Paxton, Massachusetts, she was educated at the Universidad Javeriana in Bogota, where she received a Fine Arts degree in Art and Interior Design. She has studied at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, and privately with leading New England and Copley Society of Art artists including: David Curtis, Lois Griffel, Joseph McGurl, Ernest Principato and Paul Ingbretson. She received awards at two of the SOHO International Art Competitions in New York, at the Manhattan Arts International in New York, and at the Mirabile Dictu Company Fine Arts Competition, South Londonderry, Vermont. Her work has been included in juried shows at the Copley Society in Boston, the Silvermine Guild Arts Center (New Caanan, Connecticut), the Whistler House Museum, Parker Gallery, (Lowell, Massachusetts,) and in commercial exhibitions at the Agora Gallery, New York, NY; The Hearle Gallery, Chatham, Massachusetts; The Copley Society of Art, Boston Massachusetts; Lawrence Galleries, Meriden, Connecticut; the Michael Stone Collection, Washington, DC. Alix’s work is included in corporate and private collections throughout the United States, South America and Europe. The lushness and abundance of color in her native Bogota, her travels, and the beauty of the natural world wherever she finds it, have been major influences on her and the inspiration for almost all of her painting. She is a member of the Copley Society of Art in Boston.
