ABOUT THE ARTWORK
“Envy,” Comparison is the thief of joy. Why is there comparison? At some stage of our lives we have all been compared to someone or the other. Knowingly or otherwise, this has left us feeling resentful, wounded, inferior & unhappy thus robbing us of our joy. I have used charcoal to show the depth of darkness felt by the woman at the back as she compares herself to the beautiful woman in all her finery. Gold and yellow colours have been used to enhance the beauty and opulence of the woman in the foreground. Extensive use of used my fingers and minimal brushes strokes were user to create this beautiful piece. Acrylic and Charcoal on Stretch Canvas. 30 inches x 36 inches.
