'Equus' Painting

'Equus', Latin for 'horse', defines the composition's focal point set amongst a contrasting abstract background. Being a silent admirer of the elegance in the horse's figure, I ventured to express that admiration on canvas. I was inspired to focus on the horse's fundamental form, outlined with bold lines, contrasting the warm hues with peaceful neutrals to hone in on the vibrancy, movement, and freedom inherent to this magnificent creature. To diversify between styles and venture from the style of realism, I explored a different approach to my innate painting style. I want the viewer to feel upbeat and positive each time they look at this plethora of earthy colors. At the same time, the white horse unknowingly draws their attention in another direction entirely. Upon further observation, the wood grain texture in the background, the checkerboard pattern, the contrast of geometric composition all represent differing life experiences. The superficial chains in the background are an attempt to show the transient free spirit of the animal and the possible future thereof.  The painting comes as a gallery wrapped canvas with the painting wrapping around the edges.
