Born in Paris on 28 November 1966, Marc-André Metais spent his early childhood in Boulogne-sur-Mer and then moved to Belgium. He lives in Brussels for about twenty years. Theux in the region of Spa (city of balneology par excellence) is from now on his haven of creation and peace. Belgian plastic artist, Marc-André Metais expresses himself through several supports such as scroll wood, Plexiglas, canvas or 3D printing. As a synesthesist, each colour is a musical note. The synesthesia of the artist reflect through different themes. This particularity is a neurological condition in which two or more senses are associated. Therefore, Marc-André Metais works his paintings like pictorial musical compositions inviting the spectator to stop and appreciate them. Each colour is a musical note. The harmonies, the tensions, the chromatic scales take us into Marc-André's colourful, geometrical, lyrical and organic universe. The Mindfulness of the creative moment. Nature and the world are also essential elements in the artist's creation. He gets fully absorbed in the moment letting gestures, touches and colours connect harmoniously. This way of proceeding combines emotions, forms, intuition and abstraction. User of the eletric monowheel, the use of this sustainable transport allows him to be totally in harmony with what surrounds him; thus, filled with urban and rural environments, the artist transposes them in his paintings. Marc-André Metais's work is therefore unique. The artist's "Figurative Abstraction" invites us to stop, to settle down, to fully enjoy an emotional and pictorial moment where geometry is omnipresent.
