About The Artwork

She looks like she’s aware of her own lightness, so she forces herself down to the ground. She looks extremely volatile. That’s what made me choose Ether for this painting. A painting that came to be while working on a simple abstract piece. I let myself be carried away and suddenly a figure appeared. I wanted to keep the transparencies on the background but needed a touch of plain color as well so my hand ran free across the canvas and I created the geometrical shapes around the figure to bring it more into focus.

*There is no abstract art, you must always start with something. Afterward you can remove all traces of reality. This has stuck with me and is what I relate to the most. Wether it’s spontaneous or intentional my work is deeply personal. Expressing through art is my way of communicating all the elusive feelings that I otherwise keep hidden. Right then, in the process of creation the boundaries become non-existent and I let myself be exposed, vulnerable and even controlled by the art that unfolds. What surfaces looks to me like an emotional battle, one that leaves room for individuals to insert their own feelings and find their subjective winners. I use different techniques, textures, contrasting colors and bold strokes in paintings that most often become figurative due to my need of understanding the bases of human emotions. I was able to construct and deconstruct the human figure in the aimed attempt to get to the most intrinsic part of one’s self and found the most rewarding “AHA” moment in the expression of the stripped down minimalist figure. They say artists gaze upon reality and create their own impressions. The viewer gazes upon the impression and creates his own reality. Either way, Art is the triumph over chaos!!!
