Evening Elegance Painting

I'm Sylvia Hemenetz, a 20-year-old artist based near Princeton, New Jersey. My work is rooted in acrylic, blending bold forms with layered textures to explore movement, emotion, and imagination. Some of my pieces lean toward abstraction, using fragmented shapes and expressive lines to challenge perspective and evoke curiosity. With a background in painting and design, I’m drawn to both fluid spontaneity and structured composition — often balancing the two in a way that feels instinctive yet intentional. My creative process is intuitive: I often begin with color or form and allow the work to unfold organically. I enjoy experimenting with different brush techniques and surfaces, allowing each piece to feel unique and layered. Inspiration comes from a mix of fashion, modern art, and my own travels. I’m especially interested in how color and texture can shift the tone of a piece — whether it’s calm, energetic, or somewhere in between. Many of my paintings reflect a sense of quiet intensity or playful distortion, inviting the viewer to pause and interpret them in their own way. Each piece is original and created with care, reflecting a personal process and a deep appreciation for contrast, rhythm, and expressive design.
