ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Introducing "Evening Sail Home," an evocative 12x24 acrylic on canvas piece that captures the serene beauty of sailing back to port at sunset. In this harmonious scene, two stately masts stand tall amidst the subtle dance of clouds, conveying a sense of return and tranquility. The gently fading light reflects off the water, creating a mesmerizing interplay of warm hues and soft shadows that invite viewers to pause and reflect. Inspired by youthful adventures along the California coastline, this artwork encapsulates the essence of those maritime journeys. It goes beyond a simple depiction of a marine scene, aiming to evoke the emotions associated with the quiet end of a day on the sea. Whether you are a sailor who has felt the brisk evening air or someone who simply appreciates the beauty of nature, this painting speaks to the universal experience of finding one's way home. The creative process for this piece was as unique as the inspiration behind it. Every brushstroke was influenced by the artist's personal memories and emotional connection to the coast, adding layers of depth and authenticity. The result is a masterful blend of technical skill and heartfelt expression, making "Evening Sail Home" a standout addition to any collection

“As an artist, I strive to continually grow and experiment with different techniques and mediums. I have spent most of my careers as an art director and graphic designer (30 years), professional photographer (15 years) and for the last decade, painter. Composition, creative problem solving and working with deadlines became ingrained after three decades as a designer. I hold a BS degree in fine & applied arts from San Diego State University. Having these experiences have affected how my photographic images are framed in the camera and on canvas, my understanding of light on objects from directing studio photographers and exploring the possibilities of artistic post production. I find that tinting, adding layers & borders, and digital painting made a unique statement. In my paintings now, the wealth of experiences have shaped how I approach a canvas and work through the stages of analyzing, experimenting, and creating . The challenges of painting have given me a passion about creating that I intend to continue as long as I can. Sailing and exploring the ocean was a big part of my early years in California. Hence, most of my paintings are related to ocean and beach landscapes. My seascapes, tropical scenes, underwater landscapes, mermaids, and abstract paintings are directly the result from my love of the sea. In my freestanding art studio at home, I listen to music, study and work on my canvases without technology interferring. It is a very joyful place where I am free to create from my imagination and also a good diversion from the technology of my photographic business. I feel so fortunate to be making a living doing what I love. ”
