This one of a kind cyanotype painting was inspired by my observations of birds. During the pandemic I, like many, started spending time feeding and observing the birds in my yard. At times I have even had to help a few that were hurt. I have heard many stories of people taking up bird watching since the pandemic. It is a funny thing because they have always been around us. It is interesting to me that it would take something so profound such as a global pandemic for people to be able to slow down enough to notice the birds. Perhaps you have been a life long bird lover? I have listened to them while I am hiking- registering the different songs I hear in different parts of the state. Now birds are a conscious part of my every day life. I have created an oasis in my yard for their little families. Now every day has a song in it, and I'm going to try to keep it that way for as long as I can. I hope your every day can have a song in it too. My process combines elements of painting, printmaking, and Victorian era photographic processes. I paint with a photosensitive solution that reacts to UV rays, capturing the silhouettes of plants that I find & press from my hikes. The result is a range of beautiful blue hues when finalized with water. To learn more about me and my process, please visit my website at www,

I am a photo-based artist living in Los Angeles, California. When I am in the studio, I am working on a large body of analog cyanotype paintings, and when I am hiking and looking for inspiration- I always have my 35mm camera with me. My unique cyanotypes integrate science & art by combining a very old photographic printing process (cyanotype), with my background in painting and my love of botany and the outdoors. I paint with a photosensitive solution that reacts to UV rays, capturing the silhouettes of plants that I find & press from my hikes. The result is a range of beautiful blue hues when finalized with water. My artwork reflects on our symbiotic connection to nature and to a sense of place, memory, and desire. My paintings have been featured at The Other Art Fair Los Angeles, as well as numerous international exhibitions, magazines, and boutique hotel collections in California, Virginia, Georgia, and Florida. I also offer custom sized giclee reproductions of any of the images you see here, please inquire for a quote. My paintings are created on beautiful, heavy printmaking paper that can withstand the rinsing from my multiple exposure process. When you purchase one of my paintings it will be delivered unframed and carefully rolled in a tube. I suggest taking it to a framer who will flatten it for you and frame to protect the life of the painting. Because I paint with a UV sensitive solution, I would highly recommend having your painting framed with UV resistant plexiglass.
