This is a visual record of everything I encountered -- real and imagined -- in the summer of 2016. Escaped horses, giant Zika mosquitoes and a general celebration of the bikini can all be found hidden in the shapes between colors. Bonus points if you can find Death, who yields a pool cue and grins.

My name is Josh Byer. I live and work in Vancouver, Canada. I started painting non-stop after a conversation I had with my mother on her deathbed. "Don't wait," she said. My style is called Faux Fauvism. An art technique founded in the study of pattern recognition, Faux Fauvism attempts to create a “cloudgazing” effect by exploring elements of visual cognition.
