This is a portrait of Donald Trump made using the racist, sexist, ignorant and bigoted things he has said painted onto a wall of white washed dollars.

This portrait is made using his real words, on top of real money. It is best observed in person to see the level of detail in the piece. Each word and statement has been hand painted onto the canvas to create this truly one of a kind and important piece.

About The Artwork

This is a portrait of Donald Trump made using the racist, sexist, ignorant and bigoted things he has said painted onto a wall of whitewashed dollars. This portrait is made using his real words, on top of real money. It is best observed in person to see the level of detail in the piece. Each word and statement has been hand painted onto the canvas to create this truly one of a kind and important piece. The dollars themselves are in sequential order, so I believe I am the first person to handle this money as they were given to me in order of their printing. I wanted to use money as that is something Trump uses to push his status. The whitewashing is in my mind for obvious reasons. The discrimination against minorities, the pandering to the far-right and the white supremacists. I turned the money into a wall as his wall was a fundamental part of his campaign. The quotes took a surprisingly short amount of time to gather, as he has said so many awful things in so many places. In books, on tv, in newspapers…his words are disgusting and he gets away with it…because people think he is rich enough to do so. I wanted to paint him as he is a moment in history. He was a reality TV star, a liar and a moment of regret for much of America and the world. These are his words. This is his face. He really happened. If we aren’t careful, he can happen again.

Conor Collins is a Manchester based artist who uses unconventional materials and techniques in his art in order to express meaning and messages in his work. Conor’s work has appeared in publications such as TIME Magazine and been shortlisted for the Celeste Art Prize and winning the START Art Prize which saw him exhibiting at BOZAR (Brussels). Collectors of Conor’s work include Stephen Fry, Ian McKellen and Giorgio Armani. Conor has in the past used materials such as HIV Positive Blood, Diamond Dust, Written Words and more in order to convey a strong social or political message. His work challenges the ideas of aesthetic beauty and political rhetoric. As such his work has exhibited both in Galleries and The Speakers House of the House of Commons (UK). Conor continues to challenge both himself and the boundaries of what art should/should not do. He hopes in time to create a platform where the voices of creatives are as influential for social change as the politicians making changes into law.
