The Captain's Canvas : From the boundless blue of the sea to the vibrant colors on a canvas, my journey has been one of discovery, discipline, and profound beauty. For over three decades, my life was defined by the rhythm of the waves and the silent strength of steel hulls. A master mariner and former naval officer, i navigated the world's oceans, a life of duty, command, and an ever-present horizon. But beneath the uniform lay an artist's heart, one that saw the world not just in coordinates and currents, but in a symphony of light, shadow, and emotion. After a lifetime of commanding ships, i found a new way to steer: a brush across a canvas. At 53, in my spare time i traded the helm for the studio, embarking on a new voyage of self-expression. Born and raised in the vibrant, historical city of Alexandria, Egypt, I carry within me the echoes of its ancient port, its azure waters, and its captivating light. These influences, along with the vivid memories of my life at sea, form the bedrock of my art. My work is a testament to this dual life. The power of a ship battling a tempestuous sea, the quiet serenity of a lone boat on a sandy shore, the intense gaze of a cat's eye—each piece is a chapter from my personal logbook. I find solace in the rich, deep tones of oil paints and the fluid versatility of acrylics, allowing me to capture not just images, but the very essence of my subjects. Painting is more than a hobby for me; it is a way to process a lifetime of experiences, to share a perspective forged by sunrises and storms, and to connect with the world in a way i never thought possible. My art invites you to step into my world—a world where the sea meets the shore, where a ship's dynamic journey meets the stillness of the land, and where a mariner's soul finds its ultimate harbor. Welcome to The Captain's Canvas.
