Nature is a constant theme in my gestural abstract painting whether it is a floral or a non-objective work. My love of nature is derived from growing up in Australia on a farm. My painting intuitively expresses feelings about moments of joy experienced while hiking and walking along the shore. Shapes and color of flowers, texture of trees, rhythm of water abound in nature which feeds my soul and senses during walks. I express all of these felt moments in my paintings. I paint joy and this interconnectedness with nature with a hope that my paintings will resonate with others. Jill Morton is an Australian abstract expressionist artist. She has traveled world wide and explored clay and textiles in Europe and Asia. In New York city she obtained a BFA in art and teaching art degrees at Columbia's Teachers College. She currently resides in Connecticut where she taught children’s art. Jill maintains a full time painting studio in Bridgeport, Ct. Her work is in private collections world wide.
