Female Impala in fluorescent colours. Painting

My latest 'Afrika' work explores African wildlife using vibrant blocks of colour with highlights in fluorescent paint and spontaneous paint drips that add texture to the canvas. I wanted to create bold portraits of animals that catch your eye and stare back at you, holding your gaze as you move around the room. The idea was to treat animal portraits like people, get up close to them to show their vulnerability. I also wanted to look at wildlife imagery in a fresh contemporary way. The accents of fluorescent colour against the crisp white canvas adds modernity to the image and I see them framed as stretched canvases that will be in keeping with fresh technique.
