ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I was inspired to paint this work while riding on an overpass in rural Louisiana over water and marsh. Roseau Cane, a swamp grass is dying in La. swamps, which along with oil infrastructure, the BP spill, climate change and natural erosion imperils the protective swamp and marshland. So I was thinking of that, yet also thinking and feeling hopeful. Somehow we will turn this around. The marsh is beautiful.
