Fight In The Shade Painting

My informal training began at a very young age. I was always artistically inclined and was sketching cartoon characters and comic book super heroes as early as I can remember. My teachers and most importantly, my parents, encouraged and supported me and my interest never waned. Music has always been an influence and companion to my artwork. Like a good song, some paintings take off and soar while others build up slowly. My formal training is in 3d modeling, animation and motion graphics, but the technical nature of this process distracts from the creative flow. Painting on the other hand allows each piece to evolve and occur spontaneously. My approach is nontraditional and unconventional. No traditional tools are used. My formal training informs my painting, but nothing is ever planned. I have an impression about a texture, color, or shape and then let the process take over. I never know how a piece will come together until it’s complete. Each piece takes on a life of its own. My goal is to create art that generates emotion and interest. Nothing is contrived. The process is a give and take but ultimately I allow it to occur rather than forcing an outcome.
