This acrylic and collage piece on paper is inspired by groups of mushrooms floating and growing together at all different phases, coexisting in their own natural biome. I kept the coffee filter paper drawings neutral and used yellow in the background as a color of energy, hope and warning.

Ali Herrmann is a mixed media painter, colorist and science lover, whose work explores cellular structures as an origin into her abstract artworks. Creating what she terms ‘micro-biome landscapes,’ Herrmann uses SEM images and organic shapes as inspiration to explore concepts of blood, bacteria, fungi, and unicellular structures within her boldly colorful, abstract artworks. Exploring themes of repetition, rhythmic orders, geometric shapes, and chaos-order theory, Ali brings attention to nature's details that are often overlooked.
