The river cuts through the city like a blue ribbon, winding its way from the harbour to the horizon while life spills and tumbles along both banks. Follow it long enough and it will show you everything worth knowing about this place.

Adam Bogusz is a Brisbane based artist whose paintings range freely across styles, subjects and moods, always searching, never settling. Born in Melbourne in 1971 and raised in Townsville, he began painting in 1998, bringing a background in acting and music that continues to infuse his work with spontaneity and rhythm. His paintings reach toward the mystery of existence, the consciousness underneath everyday life, the feeling of being alive in a landscape or a city or a moment of human connection. Working in acrylics, he builds layered, luminous works that move between the ancient Australian landscape, the energy of cities and the tender moments between people. His father was an artist too, and that lineage is visible in his bold use of colour and his willingness to let intuition lead. At his best, Bogusz feels like a receiver rather than a maker, following the painting rather than leading it. Works in private collections across Australia, Europe and North America.
