### ABOUT
Antonino Puliafico is an Italian contemporary painter whose work explores the relationship between color, light, nature and emotion through a highly physical approach to painting.
Working primarily with oil and acrylic on canvas, Puliafico uses the palette knife as a central element of his artistic language. Thick layers of paint, impasto, overlapping gestures and incised marks create richly textured surfaces in which color becomes structure, movement and atmosphere.
Nature is often the starting point of his work: Mediterranean landscapes, water, coastlines, trees, flowers and luminous horizons are transformed rather than literally represented. Figuration and abstraction coexist, placing his practice between contemporary landscape painting, gestural expressionism and lyrical abstraction.
The palette knife allows Puliafico to work directly into the surface of the painting—applying, dragging, layering and carving the paint. In his large-scale works, this physical gesture becomes increasingly immersive, giving the canvas an almost sculptural presence.
A distinctive feature of Puliafico's practice is his incised signature. Engraved directly into the painted surface, the signature is not simply added after completion: it becomes a physical part of the artwork itself.
Color remains at the heart of his research. Blues, greens, reds, yellows and luminous contrasts generate rhythm and emotional intensity, creating landscapes that are experienced as memories and sensations rather than conventional representations.
Through palette-knife painting, impasto and an instinctive use of color, Antonino Puliafico has developed a recognizable visual language rooted in contemporary Italian painting while remaining open to abstraction, expression and the emotional experience of nature.
