Aja Terwilliger was born in Springfield, Mass but spent most of her life in the suburbs of Atlanta. She moved to Los Angeles in 2012 for a change of pace and has lived in Los Angeles ever since. Aja studied Fine Art for a few years in college but decided she wanted to pursue other avenues as a career and has no formal training in art. Both Aja's grandparents were artists and encouraged her to paint starting from a young age. In 2018 Aja started a Masters Program to become an acupuncturist and took some time off from painting to pursue a career but always felt she was missing something. After experiencing a loss of a parent in 2023 Aja realized painting is part of her path in life and she now finds balance in both her career as an acupuncturist and creating artwork. Aja is inspired by Pop Artists like Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein and explores the use of bright colors coupled with patterned backgrounds to create playfulness and a sense of movement.
