ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Shape and color are intimately linked. Without the color that constantly covers and eats it, form would not exist. The overall shape of the painting, where harmony resides, is always questioned by color. And it is with the help of this one that we discover this one. It is more and more difficult for me to associate form and color. I always have the impression that these are two different experiences. The color for emotion, rash, passion, mood. Form for reason, understanding, trying to grasp something for good, mastery, domination. In short, always instinct and reason. But what is still strange is that color is intimately linked to the creation of forms. It is not limited simply to filling these, coloring them but it directly influences their metamorphoses. Under the effect of color, the shape changes. At each stage, at each successive moment when a version of the current painting is born which may be satisfactory, it becomes very difficult and even sometimes painful to destroy the image produced again in order to go to an elsewhere always unknown and always deeper. the painting then takes care of all these stages piling up on each other and instead of the easily accessible beauty of the first jets, we are faced with a more obscure work, less decorative and less pleasant perhaps but more dense . The title of "Forest" was given to me after a long unexpected walk in the Bois de la Cambre and the Forêt de Soignes, looking up to see the tangle of branches and the light passing through.
