About The Artwork

‘Trust me child, I have it all under control.’ - Love, God On August 24th, 2008 Andre and I arrived in Nairobi, Kenya. Our first visit was at the Ramoma Gallery. The director beamed as he showed us his favorite pieces of art by children who were struggling with life threatening diseases. These beautiful children were full of spiritual life sharing their stories of dreams and ambitions. Their artwork was a display of vivid colors, flamboyant animals and happy people. There was so much love and hope in these small pieces. Upon our return I was determined to honor these small brave children in the form of a statue painting. Because it is uncommon to see African children on a monument I chose to represent four small black children on a water fountain. The symbolism of the water means purity and life. The pure simplicity of these children lives with the determination to pursuit their goals despite their challenges left me deeply moved. Andre and I have founded a non-profit organization Painting a New World.com – Peindre un Nouveau Monde.com in 2008. We believe that art has the power to create positive change for the benefit and sustainability of communities locally and in developing countries. Through the sales of our artwork and art projects Painting a New World is creating positive changes in Africa and Haiti. In Africa, PNMW provides funding to local initiatives to employ artists who design and paint murals on school walls while engaging and educating communities about their environment and future. To date PNMW has funded 15 murals in Kenya and 7 in Chad. In Haiti, the organization has provided funds to the school Notre-Dame in Paillant. A portion of the funds was used to convert the wood stoves to propane as wood is getting scarce. This change allows the school to continue to provide meals to 275 students each day
