From Penn Station to Washington- n°1 Painting

The Other Art Fair; London March 2023 This painting is part of a series of four paintings shown at the OTHER ART FAIR, LONDON 03-2023 These paintings depict a train journey from New-York city to Washington. I wanted to paint the series like a video: when the scenery goes by in front of your eyes but you don't have time to focus on an image, another one has already taken it's place. I painted the paintings like a video with elements reproduced in the four paintings. The clouds go from one painting to another; the train tracks from paintings 2 and 3 follow the same rule. The painting n°1 depicts a derelict factory in the middle of the New-Jersey landscape. The whole series I want to show is about the real USA, far from the "golden paved street". A real America made of contrasts. The style is impressionist ; the atmosphere is peaceful, yet represents a little boring suburb. It's the reality of a suburban town. A closed factory; poor houses made of wood looking over the train lines. These are the reality of most suburb towns, yesterday full of life with factories and businesses, then the factories closed down, the shops followed suit and the people are abandoned. These series of four paintings is independent but best put together to follow the train journey. Like a video. Acrylic on stretched canvas wooden frame; protected by a brigh acrylic varnish, to enhance the colours. ready to hang on a wall.
