ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This work is inspired by the genetic mutations that occurred in flowers after the Fukushima nuclear disaster. In some cases, three or four flowers come together to make one, creating an oblong center that looks as though it has been stretched out. In others, instead of sprouting petals around the center, a flower will sprout smaller versions of itself in place of each petal, like a fractalized mandala.
