This work was created using acrylic paints, charcoal drawing. The canvas is stretched on a 3D wooden frame and artwork is ready to hang. A thin layer of varnish protects the artwork against UV light and dust. The artwork is signed on the back and accompanied with a certificate of authenticity. ABOUT MY WORK: This artwork is from the series «Time of Witnesses». The painting is dedicated to the world of classical art of the era of antiquity and the Renaissance. The idea of a dramatic confrontation between culture and always new, and therefore threatening barbarism, lies in the compositional and technical nature of the paintings. The artwork creates a new, modern space, populated by dumb witnesses of a great culture who have survived millennia, full of timeless meaning, which forms the basis of our being. The painting seeks to introduce classical art into a modern context, insisting that history does not move linearly, that different epochs overlap and live in our consciousness, giving rise to an amazing experience of multilayered perception of culture and the surrounding reality. Victoria Dael, (birth name — Victoria Belyakova, born in 1982, Moscow, USSR. Lives and works in Malaga, Spain. Two views are merged together in Victoria`s creative work: the view of an artist and the view of a cinematographer. Classical epochs and styles interpreted by the artist based on contemporaneity are involved into their orbit. A dramatic confrontation comes to the fore between culture and barbarism, erosion of cultural space experienced by our world. Victoria studies history creating profound and composite images. She uses her own artist technique, characterized by the combination of different factures, elements of drawing and collage. The artist perceives the world as a palimpsest in which every epoch preserves its “cultural layer”. Like camera focus Victoria`s artistic method aggregates not only several plans into perfect composition, but also turns ancient images, landscapes, remains of the Golden Age into a metaphor. Victoria works with “cultural memory”, inviting us to make a long way to comprehend great heritage of Art.
