About the Artist

Austin Noftz

United States

With consistent practice, my work builds on itself as I develop over time. I study topics that interest me, and use making Art as a way to comprehend the concepts on a deep level. My process is a form of independent education. I think my creative approach to learning gives me a different perspective than most other students have.
We are at a groundbreaking time in history with regard to the various fields of science. I have become interested in the developments of AI, quantum physics, and space travel, and how they can all relate to each other. I predict a future where all three of these areas of study are used together to do incredible things. Science fiction is ever more becoming science fact.
In 2025, I began a series of paintings about the experience of being in and interacting with the energy that flows through space. I am sensitive to the subtle energies around me, and making the Art helped me to understand my own personal experience. I am still building on this concept, expressing energies and dimensions in my work.
I am a whole person, with light sides and dark sides. In order to develop the whole, I must address both sides of myself. I differentiate who I am socially from what I make Art about. Socially, I try to maintain a positive presence at all times. But, Art is a different story. Sometimes I need to explore the uncomfortable dark sides of myself in my work in order to dissolve the congested and agitated energy that I feel around me.
This concept can be explained by the Yin Yang theory. It is about balance between light and dark forces. The planet in balance would be in perfect equilibrium. Unfortunately, today the planet is out of balance. I believe in the power of consciousness to bring the planet back to balance. Making Art helps me bring balance to the space around me, and I can only imagine the good my work could do if it were wide-spread.
