I love plants and gardens -and ginko leaves have a peculiar and interesting shape.
This very enlarged ginko leave has a strong shimmer of blue (I have used glossy acrylic paint also for the "lacquer red" in the seals). The "owner's seals" are inspired from the Chinese and Japanese habit of putting seals directly on a painting or drawing - maybe a strange habit seen from a Western perspective - but they just add to the beauty in my
opinion. The writing is pure fantasy.
The canvas is painted on the sides - and the painting is ready to hang - no frame needed.

I was born in Denmark, and have been drawing and painting since early youth. I have lived in Germany and France, where I had my own fashion brand. I moved to Italy in 2000 and decided to give up fashion design and devote myself full-time to painting -- a decision I have never regretted. My chief source of inspiration are the many diverse cultures I have come across during my numerous trips. I always loved beautiful textiles, but I also draw inspiration from the shapes and color combinations of the traditional arts of China, Korea and Japan, and African and Oceanic tribal art. And I should not forget to add that I just love flowers and gardens - always an inexhaustible source of inspiration. I hope that the my paintings convey to the viewer something of the visual stimulation and excitement that I feel when I have created a new work.
