I create a visual world in which familiar images of Northern nature, folk art, and traditional storytelling take on new forms. Working across painting, ceramics, illustration, and large-scale wall murals, I bring these sources together with personal experience and a contemporary way of seeing the world, preserving their recognisability while allowing them to transform.
I was born in Russia, lived in Estonia, and currently reside in Spain. My artistic language has been shaped at the intersection of different cultural and natural landscapes: the Northern environment connected to my roots, and the Mediterranean context in which I live today. This distance has deepened my connection to the past; returning to Northern traditions becomes a way of preserving the memory of where I come from and expressing gratitude to the place that shaped my perception of the world.
Northern nature has always been more than a background to me — it is an independent presence. Folk traditions, stories, and mythology have shaped the way I understand imagery, and this influence continues to live within my artistic language.
For me, folk art is a living language that continues to evolve. Rather than reproducing tradition, I carry it forward, creating new forms at the intersection of memory, nature, and personal experience.
In my work, humans, animals, and plants intertwine, transforming into fantastical forms of life. These figures exist between reality and imagination, where the boundaries between human and nature remain open and constantly shifting.
Materiality and handcraft are essential to my practice. Regardless of the medium, I am drawn to the ability of materials to hold memory and create a connection between the past and the present.
