I like painting sea and boats, large marine spaces inspire me. "l'air du large " sounds to me like the word “freedom”. I hope that the person who looks at this painting feels the wind on their face and hear the sails flapping in the wind, the sliding of the waves on the bow and the captain's orders. The light blues speak of air and the blue-greens evoke water. This painting is painted in acrylic while I usually paint in oil. This painting had to be ready quickly because I only had a week before bringing all my paintings for an exhibition in Saint Malo

Béatrice Roche Gardies is a French painter living and working in Lucé, near the cathedral of Chartres. A graduate of the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, her work reflects a deep sensitivity to the present moment and explores human vulnerability through a silent, contemplative artistic language. Her artistic practice alternates between intense periods of creation on-site and reflective moments spent preparing for exhibitions, commissions, and large formats. Béatrice employs a variety of mediums, including drawing, ceramics, bronze, and glass, to convey her vision. Her palette is warm and luminous, featuring incandescent blues. Whether capturing portraits, seascapes, or landscapes, her works combine lively brushwork done en plein air with compositions that have been thoughtfully developed in the studio. The tangible embodiment of her portraits invites a contemplative immersion in her landscapes. Her sculptures, crafted from ceramics and bronze, as well as her glass creations, evoke myths and childhood stories, feeding the collective imagination. The excellence of her work has earned her numerous awards and national exhibitions, including a place in the permanent collection of the Palais de l'Élysée in Paris( EMPPR). In 2011, she was appointed painter for the Armed Forces, specializing in Air and Space, and she currently presides over the Association of Air and Space Painters. Béatrice Roche Gardies emerges as an artist whose vision transcends the boundaries of traditional mediums. Her exploration of life, imbued with inner joy and deep reflection, offers a unique visual and emotional experience, inviting viewers to connect with the richness of fleeting moments and evocative silences.
