I am fascinated by birds - and especially the mythical ones. Some of them are most fascinating - both their role in ancient societies and the sheer beauty of them. Painting a mythical bird gives you an almost total freedom - since they are - well, mythical, so not many "rules" apply. A phoenix is/was a strong symbol of freedom - it soares up into the sky spreading its fantastic wings and displaying its long beautiful tail - she is really a queen of the sky. The painting has a small symbol on the front and is signed on the back. The sides are painted, so no frame is needed.

I was born in Denmark, and have been drawing and painting since early youth. I have lived in Germany and France, where I had my own fashion brand. I moved to Italy in 2000 and decided to give up fashion design and devote myself full-time to painting -- a decision I have never regretted. My chief source of inspiration are the many diverse cultures I have come across during my numerous trips. I always loved beautiful textiles, but I also draw inspiration from the shapes and color combinations of the traditional arts of China, Korea and Japan, and African and Oceanic tribal art. And I should not forget to add that I just love flowers and gardens - always an inexhaustible source of inspiration. I hope that the my paintings convey to the viewer something of the visual stimulation and excitement that I feel when I have created a new work.
