About The Artwork

Gold Light Banksia is a large abstract landscape depicting banksia trees against a mountain ridge. Metallic gold reflects the light through the trees, and the sky is soft textured shades of beige, warm grey and off white. The warm brown and light ochre of the landscape create a earthy palette that sets off the metallic gold beautifully. The gold leaf will change depending on the light source. At some angles and in different lighting it will look more burnished gold and in other lights it looks like a shiny bright light gold. The Banksia tree is common throughout Australia and the surrounding region, it endures the fires, floods and droughts. It has a hard knobbly seed pod and beautiful flowers in vibrant shades of yellow, orange and red. Stretched and ready to hang. Commissions welcome in any size.

I paint, I create and make things that make me happy. Sounds simple enough... but maybe that's what it should be. I was born in Ireland, grew up in Zimbabwe and have lived in the UK,USA and Australia. Meeting new people and exploring where I live inspires much of my work. I create in a medium appropriate to the inspiration. My artwork finds expression in oils, acrylics, charcoal, mixed media and glass. I use print making, stenciling, texture, fabric and transfers to create multi-layered tactile pieces. You will find my unique artwork in offices, hotels, homes, bars and restaurants in Australia, Europe, USA, Canada, China, Singapore and Southern Africa. I have 14 years of experience consulting on various international projects where the work was created to specification as the majority of the projects required custom made artwork. I understand how to evaluate and select materials that align with aesthetics, compliance and individual needs. I am very comfortable with collaborating on a brief and love the cross pollination of ideas that result from co-designing art work.
