This is a piece of eco-art. To create this work art, I used renewable resources. A well loved cupboard door served me as canvas. I used beautiful small pieces of real bark from a dead tree I found in the forest.

What is most important, this nature friendly painting carries a powerful message: We human beings are cutting down the tress. The very trees that sustain your and our kids’ life on our planet. Our actions are similar to those of a fool that cuts down the tree that grows gold for him. Note:I choose the imagery of gold because the majority of people are more prompt to measure value in gold and money.

Those cut down trees might never came back to us. In the mean time, the air our children and we breath is becoming more and more contaminated. We humans may not survive the inflected harm we our doing to ourselves.

Nevertheless, not everything is loss. As you see on the painting there is hope. There is still a part in the forest that has not been cute down. We still can stop the destruction of or forests and our future.

One of the most important elements on the painting are the incrustations of real tree bark on the bottom of the work. Some of the trees are cover with gold leaf to show our loss when we cut a tree.

Painted with brushes and palette knife. A final varnish coat preserves the colors for extended time and protects the painting from dust and UV rays. Edges are painted, requires no framing, so it is ready to hang.

The painting is signed on the side. Certificate of Authenticity included.

By training a psychiatrist, Sonia is a self-taught artist born in Peru. Currently retired, she lives in Ontario Canada. Many years ago, an intrinsic need for painting arose in me. I was felt moved by an interior force to look for brushes and pour my soul on sheets of canvases, paper, etc. Right then, I began to dedicate the few hours of my free time to immerse myself into my new discovery. I started by challenging myself with watercolors. I also tried myself in oils. Still, most of my work today is done in acrylics. As for my subjects, in the course of this discovery; I found inspiration in portraiture, nude, and landscape. Not long ago, I discovered abstract painting. Since, I spend my days enjoying this magical world. A world of color and unlimited imagination. I discovered that abstract is the kind of art that jealously hides all its rules and laws. To me, abstract painting is challenging, but it’s a challenge that makes me happy with myself. But most importantly, through this challenge, I reconciliate with the universe and with my own existence. Looking at my art it is easy to appreciate my love for color. Color makes paintings expressive. Contrasting colors evoke the mixed, often opposite feelings that sometimes overwhelm us. Bright colors subtly flirt with the eye and elicit positive emotions in us.
