On a trip to Venice, I stood on the bridge viewing the beauty of the Grand Canal and the traffic of boats on the Canal. It was a beautiful, sunny day and I was inspired to paint this scene. I sketched it and then took a photograph of how it looked at that moment. When I returned home, I enjoyed painting the blues of the canal and sky against the red roofs and tans of the buildings. I hope my viewers who have been on this bridge will reflect on the beauty of the Canal and that those who haven't may feel the emotion of happiness I felt that day. I choose to portray the scene with oils in a semi-realistic, impressionistic style.

I was born and raised in Philadelphia and have one sister. As a child I focused more on my music education and received piano lessons from a very early age. I still enjoy playing. My true art education began in my thirties when I began taking drawing, pastel and oil painting lessons. I took many lessons and tried many different mediums focusing on watercolors and oils. No my husband and I live in Bryn Mawr. I taught English and Reading for many years and always had students incorporate art into their projects. I have four sons, 5 grandsons and 2 granddaughters and another due soon. My life revolves around my family, my art painting and my music-- and I enjoy cooking too.
