ABOUT THE ARTWORK

"Great River" -At the end of the 18th century, the famous Canadian explorer and fur trader Mackenzie, being at the mouth of the Mackenzie River, heard from the Indians that the same large river flows to the west. In 1792 Mackenzie attempted to reach an unknown river ... ..... The Yukon River is famous for its "gold rush" of the early 20th century - the Klondike, after the river-tributary. People from all walks of life went to the Yukon even from as distant countries as Great Britain and Australia. Most surprisingly, these were mostly qualified workers, such as teachers and doctors. There were even one or two city mayors who quit their prestigious jobs to travel. Most of them were well aware that the chances of finding a significant amount of gold were small, people just decided to take the risk. More than half of the people who reached Dawson decided to give up the idea of finding gold and not risk it. As a result, thanks to the large number of qualified gold prospectors who arrived in the region, the gold rush contributed to the economic development of Western Canada, Alaska and the Pacific Northwest Territories of the United States and Canada.
