Most of them were well aware that the chances of finding a significant amount of gold were small, people just decided to take the risk. More than half of the people who reached Dawson decided to give up the idea of ​​finding gold and not risk it. As a result, thanks to the large number of qualified gold prospectors who arrived in the region, the gold rush contributed to the economic development of Western Canada, Alaska and the Pacific Northwest Territories of the United States and Canada.
