titled "Green Sun" the painting was inspired by Kotaro Takamura's manifesto. "Even if someone paints a green sun, I will not say it's wrong. This is because there may be a time when the sun looks that way to me too"

Born in 1984 in Istanbul, Nilufer Yildirim lives and works between Istanbul and New York. Her painting journey commenced early, during her art history and graphic design studies in Milan in 2006. She spent a significant portion of her life in New York, where she has honed her artistic vision amid the dynamic and culturally diverse backdrop of the city. As a contemporary artist, specializing in abstract-figurative painting, she captures the very essence of the human connection with nature and the raw emotions of concrete existence through a complex interplay of textures and vibrant hues. Her paintings constantly evoke both lively urban landscapes and the tranquil, untouched corners of the natural world. Ultimately, Nilufer Yildirim's artistic vision is a testament to the fusion of these contrasting environments, offering a reflection of the duality inherent in modern society and its profound impact on the human existence, reflecting the interplay of harmony, tension, and symbiosis within this connection. Her works are all about unraveling meaning, in which texture is a central pillar, playing a role as important as color and form. There is a fusion of organic and geometric shapes, and the interplay of depth and flatness. Though she borrows from the traditions of expressionism and abstract art there is always a figurative sense behind her paintings. They jump back and forth between something that can be a landscape or a portrait with certain color arrangements. Within a wide range of her subject matter, landscapes and sculptural portraiture is a central trajectory. Utilizing a variety of techniques and materials, including small scale paper works, large canvases, collages and found objects, Yildirim employs a panoply of materials to create her paintings from pastel and pigment to ink, acrylics, and oil, intending on leaving no avenue unexplored using paint to create associative abstractions, crafting non-objective imagery from her personal connections. Her abstract compositions are bestowed with titles that are intentionally open-ended yet subtly evocative, hinting at her personal experiences and memories.
