GREENCARD Painting

This painting became and autobiographical snapshot of my journey in attaining my green card. ..a time where I witnessed so many people from other countries go through the system...how hard working they were..how committed they were to contributing to the United States based on a Dream for a better life. I personally experienced some really challenging moments here awaiting my permit to work, not having a place to live, or sometimes food. My mother passed before I was able to get my green card to visit my family and all I could do was create this piece during some of the most emotional moments where I was holding on to hope that it would arrive. I had no idea how i would make them but when i use to go on hikes in arizona and california. I was often in awe that we as humans could walk over mountains. Metaphorical for me of what we do in life to get to the top. I envisioned creating this mountain somehow and within about 30 minutes i found myself accomplishing that from such a magical place like it wasn't me creating it..which inspired me to carve "god was here" on the mountain. I placed a mirror in the sun...because how often is it that we see the light in ourselves especially during our darkest hours . The sunset melting on sunset boulevard in black for me represent the cars..the pollution the dripping in heat of colors created in the sky from that pollution . The bike with the shoe represents empathy the ability to walk in each others shoes before we judge. Bikes and Balloons give me a feeling of independence and freedom....i didn't put a human on the bike to represent that being all of our rights.
