About The Artwork

A quiet and tranquil monochrome abstract landscape, lots of layers of stoney grey, light blue, little white and pitch-black ink. You can see a landscape, you can see hills or waves... I have been interested in the structures that emerge when painting with lots of liquids. The grey is a non color, as these are difficult times I feel like grey quite often. But there is always hope in the future and so you can see a little white at the horizon. 40x40 cm on stretched canvas. Semi-matte varnished. Ready to hang with hook at the back. Signed on the back. (c) Gesa Reuter 2017

Based in Germany, Gesa Reuter’s artistic practice started in 1996. She has since studied the techniques of the old Dutch masters, layering selfmade gouache, egg tempera and sometimes oil to build her paintings with different layers of paint from thin to thick. Recently she has discovered the power of watercolours and ink in her work, enjoying the way the watery materials leave marks and traces to describe her inner feelings and emotions. Rather than painting an accurate visual representation of a landscape, she prefers to use the power of memory; her artworks are an expression of her feelings and emotions in the moment of experiencing the landscape." (Inside Artists, Issue 9, Summer 2017) So far, her works have been exhibited in Germany and Europe, mainly sold to private collectors in Germany, U.S.A., UK, NL, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, to architects, small companies, private medical and psychological practices. In public collection of Amateras Foundation, Bulgaria, NHS England and Kunsthaus Stove, Germany.
