First her face…so engaging, with all its features yet each separately and incredibly attractive. In painting a female face as my main theme, I decided to mix, almost scramble, the bold portrait with vibrant oil color layering. Thereby inviting the viewer to engage with and immerse in the concept of...

Before I start painting, I decide only on form and texture. The rest I leave to intuition and a sense of wonder. I want my emotions, low and high, to spill out onto the canvas and allow the piece to shape itself. I mostly choose a rough texture yet porous enough to let vibrant colors fight through the fibre, leaving only enough tone to embrace the complexity of the emerging design...mystical and devoid of pure form and lines. Just layers of different pigments to portray a sense of interwoven interdependency. Even as a child, my mother complained that my coloring-in books looked as if a cat had scratched in them - because I pressed my crayons or pencils so hard trying to get stronger colors, that they broke or tore the pages. Being an individualist to a great extent, I am actually a good team-player, love to attend high-end- art events and fairs with my friends, or spend a night out together surfing highly artistic Kievan underground creative spaces. But don’t get me wrong, I’m quite content to spend a night just watching a TV series; or painting away until the early hours. People say my sense of humour is contagious. Probably because over many years I’ve enjoyed working with advertising people - they’re fun, creative, full of energy. I like the way they use adrenaline, win or lose. That’s the way I see life. And my art. Not always feet on the ground but magical enough for fantasy. My mates find me starry and dreamy, almost aloof, ‘cos I have a latent objection to conformity, and a love for abstract art. Which to me is like a prized wine created by a master from dissimilar yet matching cultivars. I want my critics...of me and of my art...to experience a mindset beyond any limitations. And to reject the obvious in favor of surprise and the unstated. In the end I want my efforts focused on creating a symbolic diversions of movement, of change and more so of color, to demonstrate the power of abstraction. I may still be a long way from perfection but I don’t doubt my art instincts
