ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The action of opening a door and giving way - to hatch and give life - is a purely feminine attribute. What would we do without such an essential action as a demander? Feminine power is magical, and is essential to exist on this earthly plane. The work below seeks to manifest this action of opening and breaking that envelope to give life, to be born. Colors and strokes alluding to constant movement, glazes as phases and moments, and different rhythms of composition constructed that mark moments in future. A future that does not stop, but advances without stopping. Through gold leaf, a visual journey is created commemorating that magic, that feminine power that is nothing other than pure life in essence.

Luciana has studied Fine Arts with a specialization in Painting at the Faculty of Art of the Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru, and completed her studies at the Central Saint Martins (University of Arts) in London. Within her specialty she constantly investigated how to reproduce the interpretation of different sensations, emotions and moments. Additionally, as part of her process, she tends to explore other materials, such as ceramics and stone, through sculpture. “Experiences, emotions and permanent research are an essential part of my process as an artist. Painting allows me to go back to other spaces, capture the experiences, thoughts, observed and learned. In this way, art arises, due to the need that human beings have to express what is not rational in ourselves.”   Her tendency towards abstraction is based on the concern of wanting to generate interpretations of realities other than the strictly natural, to reproduce consciousness itself. In many cases, goes with the idea of a metaphor representing various sensations through a new lyrical language; proposes a new reality based on its own sensory language. Her work has strokes and multiple layers of glazes that allude to memory and time in constant movement. For the artist, the representation of landscapes is perceived by each person in a different way, becoming each moment unique within the memory. Nothing is the same twice.
