ABOUT THE ARTWORK
In the Lowcountry, Haint Blue is often spotted on porch ceilings, front doors, and even stairs or window trim. The color was first used by the Gullah people, who believed it would ward off evil spirits by tricking them into thinking it was a body of water (which they were unable to cross). After being visited by some mischievous spirits for the past few years, I had the notion to make my own "Hainting" — a painting using Haint Blue as the primary color palette.
