Shweta Rao Garg is an artist, writer, and poet in Baltimore, MD. Her first solo exhibition of painting, called “Bard in Acrylic”, was organised in Ahmedabad, India, in December 2018. This series was inspired by the works of Shakespeare. The paintings of her Bard series are not mere illustrations of Shakespeare’s universe but are interpretations that are fully self-aware and celebratory of the time and space between the artist and the great Bard. Her art, like her writing, seeks to recreate the paradigm and give a new perspective to the viewers. Her artwork is replete with jouissance as well as irony. She believes that through her art, she can contribute to people having a nuanced appreciation of life and its inexplicable quandaries.
