This piece was inspired by the skilled female artists, metalsmiths and wood workers I personally collaborate with and am continually inspired by daily. The concept for this painting is to bring attention to the underrepresented roles of women in industrial related careers. I was inspired to create this subject matter from a call for artists to an NCWCA exhibition about women's issues in contemporary society. I choose to work in oil paints I hand mix myself because this process allows me to use non-toxic, environmentally conscious pigments and binders. I love the versatile abilities of oil paints to move with fluidity or build texture and dimension. I hope this work inspires, empowers and brings joy to the viewers. Thank you for looking!
