Heliotropism is a phenomenon observed in plants and in some animals where they orient themselves in response to the direction of sunlight. The term "heliotrope" is derived from the Greek words "Helios," meaning sun, and "tropos," turning or bending. It is this gesture of being inclined towards the light, or rather its symbolic meaning what inspires this series. Movement is expressed in these works, as the concept suggests, the fluid acrylic technique conveys this idea and makes each one unique regardless of their obvious pattern. These works are a constant quest for a kind of presence or sincerity that is required for their genesis. They are representative of elements such as recurrence, repetition, and a constant allusion to what I consider to be the ultimate symbol of wholeness and completion, the circle. This piece from the series was conceived to be floated, not stretched.
