Since establishing himself as a proffessional artist in 2003, Lee has had two solo-exhibitions in London, Both critically acclaimed and after six years in the northern hemisphere, decided to return home and establish himself in South Africa. Lee's love for South Africa, the soil, the mountains, rivers, ocean, valleys and the light is evident in his choice of landscape as subject matter, which led to his 2007 exhibition at the Afrikaans Language Monument in Paarl. Lee's following solo exhibition entitled "BURN" was held in September 2011 in the Old cellar on the historic De Companje Estate in the Bovlei, Wellington, South Africa. This exhibition sold out within 3 hours. You can watch Lee burn his work on youtube as advertisement for "BURN" by following this link : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=20FKI4uk8Ag. In August of 2012, Lee participated in the Thupelo Wellington Workshop. A triangle Network based creative platform where 20 international emerging atrists were given the oppurtunity to freely create without the constraint of everyday existence. Since then, Lee has participated in various community projects including Operation Smile South Africa (OSSA), a Medicines Sans Frontiers project aimed at delivering free recontructive facial surgery to under-privaledged children as well as hosting various classes and talks on art and photography. The most recent of which, entitled "Approaching traditional still life painting within a contemorary African context" was held at the Breytenbach Centre, Wellington, Western Cape in partnership with the Drakenstein Arts Association. Lee has a remarkably sensitive eye for the landscape; one which engages the viewer and mesmarises to no end. His focus is on the wide open spaces, vibrant, complex colour relationships and endless atmospheres of Africa. South Africa. The Cape. Lee paints South Africa the way he feels about South Africa. Passionate and possitive. His work is sold locally and overseas, with fine examples in various corporate and private collections in South Africa, Britain, USA, France, China and Germany.
