About the Artist

Wendy Allen

United States

Allen is a renowned artist, nationally known for her paintings of Abraham Lincoln. She is co-owner of the Lincoln Into Art Gallery in Gettysburg, PA, and author of Lincoln Into Art: The First Thirty Years (2013). In 2009, the year of the Lincoln Bicentennial, CNN aired an interview about Allen’s unique career. This past year, she was a guest speaker at the Gettysburg National Military Park Visitor Center and a guest lecturer on CSpan-3-American History (?468312-1/painting-abraham-lincoln). In 2019 she was awarded “Key to Gettysburg” by the Mayor of Gettysburg.

Beyond painting, Allen is the Vice President of the Lincoln Fellowship of Pennsylvania and the Founder of "One Hundred Nights of Taps, Gettysburg." Every evening during the summer months, the 24 notes of Taps fill the air in honor of those who have served our nation in Gettysburg National Cemetery in Gettysburg.

In 2019, she was awarded the Callie Award, Gettysburg Business Woman of the Year.
