Wellcome!

This work is dedicated to Robert Indiana, created in May 2018. Finished some days before Robert Indiana left us on May 19th. His work LOVE had come so strong in my mind, that I decided to create a series of 4 artworks for him.

The combination of drawing and painting, the mixture of different mediums on paper stretched on canvas, and various techniques of pencil and brush strokes result in a genuine visual language, waiting to be decoded."

Carita Schmidt graduated with a BA from the Dramatiska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden (today University College of Performing Arts). Her work has been exhibited in many international exhibitions, galleries and institutions, among them the Archaological Museum of Kavala, Northern Greece. She lives and works in Berlin since 2012. Since November 2019 Carita Schmidt is a cooperating Artist with the d/a/c art space in Miami. She is presented in the upcoming edition of Capsules book Volumne2, Contemporary Leading Artists. Book release in May 2020.

I am fascinated to express my art with few lines. Different pencils, ink, acrylic and oil color on paper are the preferred mediums. I work on high quality paper, stretched on a white canvas and on a stretcher. This gives my work a body and a good structure. Paper gives a freshness and ink blended with other mediums unfold in the best way on paper.

This painting is created with layers of fine line drawings, inks, acrylic on high quality Hahnemühle paper, 265 g, stretched on a stretcher. On first sight you can't see it is on paper. The paper is nicely folded and stretched on canvas and the canvas is stretched on a wooden stretcher. This gives a fine body and exclusive presentation. I use paper as it allows me to merge drawing and painting more effective. Red, Blue and Green are the dominating colours in this acrylic painting. The artwork is uplifting with presence and beauty, combined with positiv spirit and movement. Celebration and Joy are keywords.

Carita Schmidt is featured Artist by Saatchi Art in the collection "Flora and Fauna" in November 2019.
