This piece was born because I was incredible drawn to the perspective. It's whimsical, and provides and intimate look into what we all often experience at the beach. I am inspired by the childlike nature that the couple exudes from the ocean. They are young at heart, holding hands and jumping over the waves. That's love to me.

Kate Keery (b. 1998) is an American painter living in Brooklyn, New York. Her oil paintings capture everyday human interactions inspired by her coastal upbringing. With a romantic style and hyper-realistic technique, she uncovers beauty in the insignificant, highlighting the magic in unnoticed intimate moments. Keery studied painting at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and Florence University of the Arts. Besides being a painter, she has experience as a curator and art instructor. Keery also worked with underprivileged populations globally, using art as a tool for advocacy.
