About The Artwork

Hope - From Cupworth Reservoir to the Riverhead “Falling Up” is a series of paintings created in response to the Yorkshire landscape. Jagger revisited the area where she grew up to explore the landscape from a new perspective. Her sketches and paintings focus on the flow of water through the landscape, metaphorically water transforming from cloud to rain, then river source to sea, representing one cycle of life. The elements at play suggest the force of nature and inevitable passing of time, the man-made architecture and objects on the landscape provide signposts to locations, time and a human scale. This painting is a direct response to landscape along the Pennine way, from Cupworth Reservoir to the Riverhead in Marsden, West Yorkshire. “Cupworth to the Riverhead is a walk i’ve taken many times, on this March day a rainbow appeared to perfectly unify the elements, it’s brevity only adding to the spectacle of nature.”.
