This work is part of a serie where horizons can be confusing and where viewers would sometimes see earth or sometimes water. But the artist wanted to create a sense of lightness where gentle shades would appear. As for all her work, Isabelle does not use any images or real views. Her paintings arise from past memories or dreams.

Born in the Loire Valley (France), Isabelle spends her childhood in the huge national forest of Chinon. At the age of 19 Isabelle began her art studies in Tours at the “Atelier Aimé Venel”, then traveled to England to develop her understanding of the English language and experience a new culture and approach to life, vastly different to her rural French upbringing. Once there she submerged herself in her art and obtained a grant from the Art Council of England in 2002, enabling her to expand her experience and develop her skills. She participated in various events such as Art Fusion in 2003 and Birmingham Art Festival in 2004. She was soon asked to exhibit in some of the top galleries across the country, in London by Aubergine Art Gallery and in Birmingham by Number 9 the Gallery. At present she now lives and works in France, once again surrounded by woodlands and countryside where she draws her inspiration from. Isabelle concentrated her work for many years on the representation of the sky and clouds. Concerned by the state of our planet, she has now drawn her attention to the wonderful world of trees, forest and plants, through an eco-friendly approach. Her new found path encompasses various techniques enabling her to create art with a more respectful and sustainable approach. Her creative process is now deeply rooted within nature, respecting, and deepening a connection with her local landscape. The process of creation is much more involved, as she has to forage or grow all her own ingredients to make her own pigments, which she then transforms into inks and watercolors.
